I can’t tell you how shocked and disappointed I am at this level of fragility from someone advocating kindness and acceptance of each other and how to validate one another. I gave them some gentle and loving feedback by DM on Instagram having interacted with them there before. I finally listened to their book and the story was delightful, except, they used ableist language a lot, it became very jarring, specifically the word ‘dumb’. I adored their content and advocacy for non-binary folk. I’ve been following Jeffrey on Instagram for a while. Jeffrey reminds us that we are good people, and that we deserve our own unconditional love! I recommend this book to any teen who is struggling with finding themselves and loving who they are as well as any adult who is having these similar struggles as well. I especially like the segments called Hero, Heroine where they bring in the example of real life people throughout history who embraced who they are despite pressure to conform to society's standards.
